Celebrating the fusion of art and fashion.
This month, Diesel India is hosting the first projection photography exhibit by celebrity photographer Rohan Shrestha, curated by Ambika Hinduja Macker, at its Juhu flagship store as a part of its Diesel + Art initiative.
The launch event was attended by celebrities, corporate honchos, social influencers and eminent art lovers. Among those present were Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon, Aditi Rao Hydari, the Hinduja family, Arjun and Mehr Rampal, Rajkumar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Kunal Rawal, Anupam Kher, Esha Gupta, Athiya Shetty and several others.
Hrithik Roshan, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra also attended to support the artist and the Diesel + Art non-profitable initiative, where 10% of the exhibit sales goes to Ummeed, a charitable organisation working with differently abled children. Diesel + Art is a unique global property that celebrates art as a forever intertwined facet of fashion. The brand will continue the focus on art by partnering with artists who share the brand’s philosophy of passion, individuality and self-expression. With the current exhibit, the platform grows to the next level with an immersive experience for all the senses. Inspired by Japan and Japanese aesthetic, Rohan’s debut solo exhibition is the culmination of his search for the Sakura (Japanese cherry blossom) which he discovered in Kyoto, Japan in 2015.
Intrigued by the colour palette of cherry blossom and its uncanny similarity with an infrared image, the young artist decided to assay with a coloured and converted infrared camera. Hanami exhibits 18 images. Using six ultra-projectors, along with moving image pieces housed on the backdrop of print images, the show is a pioneering projection photography show in the city. Where: Hanami can be viewed at Diesel, Juhu till February 21, 11 am to 8 pm (video show only on weekends). No entry fee.
