CRPF jawan injured in blast by Maoists; fourth attack in 24 hours

A jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force's 170 battalion was severely injured in a blast reportedly carried out by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The blast took place near Kongpalli in Bijapur; this was the fourth such incident in 24 hours.

RAIPUR: A jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force's 170 battalion was severely injured in a blast reportedly carried out by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The blast took place near Kongpalli in Bijapur; this was the fourth such incident in 24 hours.
The attack on Friday took place when the CRPF team was patrolling the interior areas on Bijapur district.
A CRPF jawan named Neeraj Kumar was badly injured in the a pressure bomb blast. He was airlifted to Bijapur district hospital for treatment where doctors said that there are severe injuries in his both legs. Neeraj was later shifter to Raipur for further treatment.
Bijapur Superintendent of Police KL Dhruv said that this was the fourth attack in the past 24 hours. The Maoists had carried out serial blasts in Chhattisgarh's interior areas on Thursday, but there were no injuries.
The Chhattisgarh police had recovered several hand grenades and other weapons from several spots which the cops claimed belonged to the Maoists.
