Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur has hit theaters and Tabu has received a lot of praises for her portrayal of a character that has a lot of layers. The actress plays the role of Begum Hazrat who is very bitter coz of the kind of experiences she has been through . While interacting with Bollywoodlife, Tabu spoke her heart out about her excitement on doing Fitoor and her co star Katrina Kaif. Read on to find out what the actress had to say... My character belongs to a different world in her mind and that is one of the most interesting things. She is stuck in time her way of dressing with her jewellery, her red hair and everything, those things for me was exciting do the film. How was it working with Aditya and Katrina?

Very nice. They are very much in their world, doing their own work and very sincere with their work. I didn’t have any discomfort with them; they are very lovely to work.

Were they intimidated by you?

No, never. I don’t think so.

How did you prepare for the role especially since you had to sport a different hair colour and all?

We took two days to get the hair and make up right. And then my lovely hair and makeup team were everyday managing to make it look perfect. They saw to it that they shoot it on time. The preparations was already done actually because I came very last minute, my director has lived with the character, he clearly designed the character the whole look, the way she says her line and her dramatic nature so that was all in the script.

After Rekha stepped out were there any changes made when you came on board?

Not many.

Did you interact with Rekha regarding this film?

Let’s not go into that, it’s not about that. Sorry!

Were you apprehensive to look old to suit the character?

That was a challenge because I had to convincingly look older than I am. But there were no apprehensions.

What is one most misunderstood thing about Katrina?

I don’t know if she is misunderstood or not. I had a great experience with her and this is the first time I really had conversation with her , so I really don’t know if there is any misunderstanding about her.

What is your Fitoor?

I still have to discover I think. But when I’m working, I do it like a Fitoor. I have to be on time, be disciplined. Also may be music or travel.

Apart from films, what interests you? Are you reader?

No. I love singing and music, I think I can listen to music and sing the entire day

What kind of music?

Anything that sounds nice to the ears, anything that makes me feel something.

What’s your favorite number from the film?

Pashmina and Tere Liye.

How was it working with Abhishek Kapoor?

I have known him for many years but yes I am working with him for the first time. He has his own style of making films and understanding cinema and about performances; he is very distinct from the other directors.

What’s your favorite dialogue from the film?

Har cheez jo dikhti hai woh sach nahi hoti,dur se dekhlo,aankhein sekh lo,paas aao,haath lagaaoge to gayab ho jaati hai.

Your character looks very sad in the film?

She is very sad as she has gone through tremendous betrayal because of which she is completely bitter.

Did you connect with your character?

I don’t think so but I am completely aware that something like that can happen.

Were you unhappy that you did not win any awards for Drishyam ?

No not at all. When the film does well, you don’t matter about anything else.

Do awards matter to you?

I don’t think of awards when I am working, mila toh thik hai, nahi mila toh bhi thik hai.(If you get an award it’s fine, if you don’t, then also it’s fine) The film has to do well, that matters.
