Agri conference on February 13

The directorate of agriculture will be organizing a state-level conference on "value addition in agriculture for better marketing" on February 13 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. Union minister of state for agriculture Mohanbhai Kundariya will inaugurate the event. Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, agriculture minister Ramesh Tawadkar will also be present.Tawadkar said that nearly 1,000 farmers are expected to attend the conference.
Explaining the objectives of the conference, Tawadkar said: "Agriculture is the only perpetually sustainable business, and in order that more people take to agro-ventures, there is a need to provide value addition to the agricultural produce so that it fetches good rates and gives handsome profits for the farmers. At the conference, participants will be able to gain knowledge about ways to increase productivity by implementing various government schemes."
Director of agriculture, Ulhas Pai Kakode, besides other officials, were present for the press briefing.
Assolna bridge speed limit notified: The district magistrate, South Goa has notified a speed limit of 40 km per hour and No Parking on the Assolna-Cavelossim bridge in Assolna and Cavelossim villages of Salcete taluka in South Goa.
Shantaram Naik allots ambulance: Shanataram Naik on Thursday assured chairperson of the Margao municipal council Babita Angle that he will recommend projects worth around 3 crore which the councillors of the MMC had suggested recently, in the presence of Margao MLA and ex-chief minister Digamber Kamat and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai. Naik, who was inaugurating an ambulance given by him under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD), said that Margao councillors have made proposals which will benefit the residents and as soon as the proposals come to him in concrete form with relevant documents, he will immediately recommend the same to the the collector for processing .
