Maharashtra State sports meet for disabled begins
NAGPUR: Prabhakarrao Datke Memorial State-level Sports Tournament for Disabled got underway at the Reshimbagh ground here on Thursday.
On the first day of the two-day meet, physically challenged boys and girls in the various age groups won the hearts of everyone with their spirited display. Around 2,500 athletes and 1,200 officials from 30 districts of Maharashtra are participating in the meet.
Amravati's Ritik Bahekar and Dhiraj Burghate of Pune, Gouri Ingle of Jalgaon and Pune's Nimichand Ransingh grabbed gold medals in long jump and shot put events, respectively in the mentally challenged category.

Osmanabad's Bhagyashree, Payal Papadkar of Amravati and Latur's Jeeva Manja won the gold medals in long jump category. Sachin Chalak excelled in the shot put.
Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis missed the inaugural function in the morning but later in the afternoon visited the venue to give an encouragement to the disabled sportspersons.
Earlier, social justice minister Rajkumar Badole inaugurated the meet. Mayor Pravin Datke, MLC Girish Vyas, MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, MLC NG Ganar, ZP chairperson Nisha Sawarkar, Ujwal Uikey, Narendra Poyam, ZP CEO Shivaji Jondhale and others were present on the occasion.

RESULTS
Deaf and dumb (8 to 12 years boys; long jump): Ritika Bahekar (Amravati), Sanjay Sengal (Solapur), Sudhanshu Yadav (Nagpur).
12 to 16 years: Dhiraj Burghate (Pune), Anil Mirewar (Gadchiroli), Vikram Margale (Sangli).
12-16 years girls: Unnat Pardhi (Nagpur), Alka Gajbe (Chandrapur), Pooja Bhoite (Pune).
12 to 16 years; shot put girls: Gouri Ingle (Jalgaon), Ankita Andhare (Solapur), Jyoto Ekadashe (Nagpur).
16 to 21 years: Nimichand Ransingh (Pune), Anil Wadke (Gadchiroli), Sheikh Rizwan (Jalgaon).
Mentally challenged (8 to 12 years boys; long jump): Bhagyashre (Osmanabad), Anuja Rasne (Beed), Anchal Sangodwar (Gadchiroli).
8 to 12 years boys: Jeeva Manja (Latur), Kamod Pancheshwar (Nagpur), Dhananjay (Thane).
12 to 16 years girls: Payal Papadkar (Amravati), Shalini Game (Nagpur), Suraksha Ghetakar (Yavatmal).
