Vil Ambu, immersive suspense thriller

Harish Kalyan says he got this challenging role because of his performance in Vetri Maaran's Poriyaalan.

As the old adage goes, ‘Your life is in your hands’. But Vil Ambu director Ramesh Subramaniam begs to differ. He says, “Our lives are not only in our hands but also with the unknown that surround us. Based on this theory and two real life characters who crossed my life, I have made the suspense thriller Vil Ambu.” While actor Sri plays an underprivileged boy from Coimbatore, Harish Kalyan is also a part of this movie.

“These two characters — one, a ruffian and the other an innocent person living in the same locality, do not meet until the end. The story revolves around them,” Ramesh tells us. “Moreover, we shot in Coimbatore where the incidents happened initially, and it was really tough and taxing to shoot with people on the streets of the city going about their usual routines,” he adds. “The script did not require the actors to speak the Kovai dialect, as it’s an actioner with a suspense element. Of course, I did my bit of homework for my rowdy character,” Sri explains.

Harish Kalyan says he got this challenging role because of his performance in Vetri Maaran’s Poriyaalan. “Suseenthiran sir happened to watch Poriyaalan and approached me for this film. I play a middle class boy who aspires to become a photographer,” he says. While Samskruthi essays Sri’s love interest, Srushti Dange will be seen as the romantic pair of Harish. Chandini too is a aprt of the film. The highlight of the film is its quirky screenplay, says Ramesh. “In addition to being spectators, the audience will also be drawn to the story, and will become witness to the suspense. It will be a new experience,” he concludes.
