Rajnath Singh flays Congress, Left leaders

Kerala has to depend on other states for fruits and vegetables, Mr Singh said.

Thiruvananthapuram: Union home minister Rajnath Singh has sought an explanation from the Congress and Left leaders on the lack of industrial development in the state even though it has a high literacy rate and human resources.

He was speaking at the concluding session of the Vimochana Yatra led by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan in here on Thursday.

The two parties should explain the reasons why the people of the state should migrate to Gulf countries in search of employment.

“The only industry that’s flourishing in the state is corruption.” Though the monsoon touches the state first, there has been no “green revolution”. As a result, Kerala has to depend on other states for fruits and vegetables, Mr Singh said.

There is a secret understanding between the LDF and UDF that “if it's your chance this time, the next time it's mine”.

“In the 10 years the UPA was in power, we could hear of many corruption
allegations. However, there has not been a single allegation of corruption in the last 20 months of Modi government at the centre.”

While the Congress and CPM are fighting each other in Kerala, they are exchanging rings in West Bengal, Mr Singh said.
He also asked the LDF and Congress leaders to tender their apologies for making allegations against BJP leaders in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
He congratulated the BJP workers of the state, of Thiruvananthapuram especially, because for the first time in the history of the city corporation, the party got 35 seats. “Either today or tomorrow, if not in this election, the BJP would get a clear majority,” Mr Singh said.
“I am appealing to the people of the state that there should be a third
alternative. Only the BJP can be that third alternative,” Mr Singh said.
