Festive lanterns shed light on pair of ancient cultures

By Huang Zhiling in Chengdu | China Daily | Updated: 2016-02-12 08:13

It's the time of year again when lanterns light up the sky in the Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu, Sichuan province.

To create a festive air for visitors during Spring Festival, the local government has sponsored a lantern festival in the gardenlike museum, which covers nearly 29 hectares, for eight consecutive years since 2009.

The festival, which started on Saturday and ends on Feb 22, highlights both ancient Chinese and Roman culture.
