The Congress party has suffered a jolt as municipal chairperson of Kodad Municipality Ontipuli Anitha joined the TRS in the presence of Energy Minister, G. Jagadishwar Reddy in Suryapet on Thursday.
Her husband and party senior leader in Kodad Nagaraju, a trusted aide of TPCC president, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, also switched loyalties to TRS.
The development was also seen a big blow to Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy personally since a considerable number of councillors from Congress were also preparing to join in TRS. About 35 per cent of votes of Kodad Assembly constituency, represented by N. Padamavathi wife of Mr.Uttam Kumar Reddy, were from Kodad Municipality.
Three municipal chairpersons had switched loyalties to pink party apart from ZPTC chairman Balu Nayak (Congress) and a number of MPPs.
