Sevilla booked a place in the final of the King's Cup against FC Barcelona on Thursday night, but had to suffer away to a Celta Vigo side that clearly doesn't know the word 'surrender'.

Sevilla's 4-0 win a week ago gave them what should have been a comfortable lead to take to Celta's rainy Balaidos Stadium, but if Unai Emery's side were expecting Celta to accept their fate they were to be disappointed.

Celta kicked off looking to overturn the deficit and had Sevilla pinned back in their half for the best part of the first half, although it was not until the 35th minute that Iago Aspes, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla, scored the opening goal of the game.

He doubled his tally in the 55th minute with a close range header after Sevilla goalkeeper, Sergio Rico was unable to hold a cross on the slippery surface and all of a sudden the miracle looked to be on.

Ever Banega scored a solo goal with a twist and turn and a low right foot shot to give Sevilla a vital away goal just a minute later to leave Celta needing to score another four, although they should have pulled one back almost immediately after Rico brought down Celta striker John Guidetti when he was clean through on goal.

Rico was lucky to escape a red card and Sevila had another let off when Guidetti hammered his penalty against the post.

The constant rain was turning the pitch into a swamp, but Celta never gave up even when it was obvious their task was impossible and it was cruel when Yevhen Konoplyanka levelled the scores on the night from close range following great work from Vitolo in the Celta area.

Celta can take pride from their display, but the fact is with a 6-2 aggregate win, Sevilla are on the way to the final. Endit
