Dehradun, February 11
The Department of Social Welfare has worked out an agreement with Lehmann Christian Hospital, Herbertpur, to look after mentally-ill inmates of the Nari Niketan in Dehradun.
The Nari Niketan has been plagued with the problem of less and untrained staff, after which the Uttarakhand Government decided to rope in Lehmann Christian Hospital to care for the mentally ill inmates.
The hospital is also carrying out regular health check up of the inmates. In the past few days, the Department has also managed to reunite some of the inmates with their family members.
An inmate was able to locate her family members in as far as Nepal, while another inmate, admitted at the Selaqui Mental Institute, is awaiting her son to take her back to her family.
She was admitted to the mental institute way back in 2010.
