Cheetah scare and painful fractures behind this love song in Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gaadha
Love song in Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gaadha saw cheetah scare and painful fractures
The mellow notes of the romantic number Nuvvante Na Navvu... in Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gaadha are easy on the ear, but shooting for the song was anything but easy. The entire cast and crew of the film had to trek for two hours every day to shoot in the 18th century Madakasira Fort. Things got more complicated when actress Mehreen suffered a hair line fracture on her ankle while climbing the fort on day one of the three-day schedule.
The irony is that while Nani was lip syncing lines about Mahalakshmi (Mehreens character), poor Mehreen had to smile through shooting pain in her ankle. We had advised her to take it easy as the arduous ascent could worsen her injury, but Mehreen wouldnt listen. It took her four hours to climb up the fort everyday but she never complained, says Nani. I was adamant. I wanted to continue come what may, asserts Mehreen. Adding to this, the prospect of a cheetah sighting made it scary. So 30 security guards were hired.
Well, wild cheetahs didnt show up but as word about shooting spread, hordes of people from nearby villages came to catch a glimpse. For the team, it was all part of the experience. Rain, forests, scorching heat and dream like highways are an integral part of the film and the end result makes up for all the hardships, Nani says.
Produced by Ram Achanta, Gopi Chand Achanta and Anil Sunkara under 14 Reels Entertainment, Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gaadha releases today.
