Right-wing news portal Niti Central has shut down. The website was part of the Niti Digital Venture which was instrumental in coordinated volunteer efforts for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election campaign in 2014. The site said that it has been retired as of January 31, 2016 with the older posts available on archives. A former employee at netCore told MediaNama that Niti Digital began shuttering its operations after Narendra Modi's win in the general elections and the employees on the technology side were being absorbed by netCore. An employee of Niti Central, on condition of anonymity, said that the editorial staff were being moved to Indic language news major OneIndia. MediaNama could not confirm this with Niti Digital or netCore. Calls made to netCore's PR representative were unanswered. Netcore also owns in Greynium Technologies, which owns and operates OneIndia. Niti Digital was started in 2012 by Rajesh Jain, founder of netCore, an enterprise communication and digital marketing platform. At the time, Niti Central appointed veteran journalist Kanchan Gupta as editor in chief. Gupta was Associate Editor at the Pioneer, and had spent 30 years in print journalism. Niti Digital also launched India Votes in 2012. India Votes was an elections data website which stored information from the elections since 1952 and all state elections since 1977.
