Bokaro: A Class XI student, who was kidnapped by unidentified miscreants when he was going for tuition classes at Patparganj in New Delhi on Sunday, managed to escape from the clutches of his kidnappers in Bokaro and reached the office of the traffic DSP at Nayamod here. His father Ashok Mishra, who is a senior official in a leading publishing house in New Delhi (India Today), has been informed about the recovery of the missing child and is expected to arrive here around 8pm today.
The victim Shivam Mishra bravely hoodwinked the kidnappers and entered the office of DSP (traffic) for shelter at Nayamoad under City police station late on Tuesday. Later, he narrated the entire incident to police following which raids were conducted, but the miscreants could not be arrested.
Sixteen-year-old Shivam is a student of Plato Public School in Patparganj. Narrating the incident, he said more than two dozen boys of his age were brought to Bokaro by the miscreants on the Jharkhand Swarn Jayanti Express. They travelled in the same passenger coach up to Bokaro. On reaching here, other boys were taken in SUVs while two miscreants took him in an autorickshaw.
Shivam, however, had spotted the traffic police office when he was passing by it in the auto. "The miscreants got down from the auto after a short distance and handed him over to another person, who was carrying a knife," police said quoting Shivam. "Later, he forced him to walk quietly. Having walking for a few minutes, he saw people in the market and started running until he reached the traffic post," the police added.
Shivam said, "I was going for tuition classes when an unidentified person came from behind and held me at gunpoint. He was sporting a beard and wearing a pathan suit. He brought me to Anand Vihar railway station and we boarded the Jharkhand Swarn Jayanti Express where his other associates were also seated. There were many other boys too.''
Bokaro SP Y S Ramesh said they have reviewed the CCTV footage at Bokaro railway station. The boy was seen in the footage with two persons at the station, but the other boys were not seen. Based on Shivam's statement, police have begun investigation, he added. "We also sought verifications from the Delhi police, who confirmed the missing report of Shivam lodged with Madhuvihar police station," added the SP.
