Bhopal: Haryana-based advocate Momin Malik got a multiple tour visa from Bangladesh high commission to meet the father of Karachi's runaway boy, Mohammad Ramzan who is with an NGO in Bhopal.
"I have spoken to a police officer in Bangladesh who assured to provide all support to locate Ramzan's father. I will make him travel to India so that necessary formalities for deportation of Ramzan can be completed," Malik told TOI on phone.
Ramzan, the 15-year-old Karachi boy, was separated from his mother at age of 10 when his father Mohammad took him to Bangladesh and remarried. After being tortured by his stepmother, the boy crossed the border alone in 2011 with the hope of coming back to his mother in Pakistan.
Ramzan had travelled to many states before landing in Bhopal. He was spotted at the Bhopal railway station by the government railway police (GRP) on September 22, 2013, and shifted to a shelter home run by Childline. Ramzan remained there since then.
Archana Sahay, director of Childline Bhopal chapter, tried helping the boy but to no avail. Ministry of external affairs (MEA) had given up on Ramzan's case. In September this year, a CA student from Bhopal traced the boy's family in Karachi by sharing pictures via social media.
Ramzan's mother, Razia Begum, after learning that her son is in India, contacted Pakistan human rights activist Ansar Burney with a request for his release and return. Burney mailed a copy of the passports of Ramzan's grandparents to the Indian embassy and Childline for help.
Panipat advocate who had also moved Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking directions to Indian Embassy in Islamabad for providing assistance to him.
