Was "Here Come The Habibs" Racist?

Marc Fennell gives his verdict.

Here Come The Habibs was controversial from the first moment the trailer hit our computer screens, leading to an endless onslaught of debate on the way it depicted Lebanese-Australians.

Was it racist? Was it classist? Does it draw too heavily on tired steretopes?

The show finally aired this week, allowing the Australian public to actually, you know, watch it before deciding what sins it had or hadn't committed. 

So here's Marc Fennell with his verdict.
