30-year-old held for MBBS admission ‘racket’

With the arrest of a 30-year-old man, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch Wednesday claimed to have busted a fake MBBS admission racket that allegedly cheated innocent people of several lakhs on the pretext of securing admissions at institutes across states.

Police said, the arrested person has been identified as Sandeep Kumar Gupta, a graduate in computer applications. “His associates have been identified as Abhishek Patel and Amit Sinha — both B-tech students — Imran Khan and Birender Kumar — both MBA students — Bhaskar, who has a bachelor’s degree in Ayurvedic medicine, Pankaj and Ashok Rawat,” an official said.

The alleged racket came to lightwhen a man, from whom the gang had allegedly demanded Rs 30 lakh for his son’s admission at a leading institute in Bangalore, approached the police. “Based on a tip-off, crime branch arrested Gupta earlier this week.
