A local court in Saharanpur Wednesday sentenced a Pakistani national, Shahid Iqbal Batti alias Devraj Sehgal, to 12 years in jail for using fake documents to open a savings account in a nationalised bank in the district in 2008.
The court also sentenced local resident Nadeem to 10 years’ imprisonment for helping Shahid in opening the account. Both are lodged in Saharanpur district jail.
Government counsel Gajraj Mishra said both Nadeem and Shahid were sentenced to seven years imprisonment under IPC section 468 and another three years under Section 467.
