Schoolkids were worst sufferers
LUCKNOW: Arson and violence on the stretch from Parivartan Chowk to Shaheed Smarak threw traffic haywire in many parts of the city for more than five hours on Wednesday.
With ruckus at its peak in the afternoon, school children were the worst hit as vehicles ferrying them were caught in jam at different spots. "I had to drop 12 children to various parts of the city, including the tense areas.
We were running almost two hours late and I dropped the last kid at 5:30pm. All this while their parents kept calling me, concerned about our safety," explained Sunil, a school cab driver.
Many parents decided not to let their children come by school vehicles. "An agitated mob was burning vehicles and harassing commoners and the thought gave me a shudder that my daughter will have to come by auto amid all the aggravation, so I took half day leave and went to pick her on my own," said Neeraj, a bank employee. Narrow lanes of Lalbagh, Kaiserbagh, Daliganj and Khadra also suffered badly.
