In order to ensure smooth cross Line of Control (LoC) trade through Uri, District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal, today chaired a meeting of officers at Kaman Post today.The meeting was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Uri, Joint Director Industries, Custodian Trade Facilitation Centre Salamabad, and Trade Facilitation Officer Salamabad. Officers from Muzaffarabad and Traders across the LoC were also present during the meeting.The meet was aimed at improving LoC trade through Uri and it comprehensively reviewed the status of the Cross-LoC trade. Various issues related with the LoC trade like over-loading, increasing number of trucks, rates of commodities were also discussed.
The issues were taken into account by the concerned officers and the traders were assured that these issues will be solved effectively.It was given out that a total of 31567 trucks have so far carried goods from Uri to Muzaffarabad, while as 2881 trucks have carried goods from Muzaffarabad to Uri since 2008, amounting to a total export and import of about Rs. 3700 Crore.Meanwhile, the DDC Baramulla visited Trade Facilitation Centre Salamabad and inspected the construction work being carried out there. The DDC directed the concerned officials to speed up the process of the completion of the construction work.
