BERLIN — German TV group Bavaria Fernsehproduktion is expanding its television development and production activities to include international series.
The company, one of Germany’s largest providers of TV content, has tapped Moritz Polter for a new position as executive producer of international television series.
Polter will secure and develop new projects and position them at networks. He will also set up co-productions with international partners and produce the projects.
The move follows a huge increase in TV series production in Germany, which is seeing an increasing number of top talent looking to produce for television.
“International productions, especially in the series area, are a growth market,” said Bavaria Fernsehproduktion managing director Jan Kaiser, who praised Polter’s broad production experience.
Polter most recently served as vice president of production at Tandem Productions, where he produced the first three seasons of “Crossing Lines”; the series “Spotless” for Canal Plus that aired on NBC Universal’s Esquire Network; and the miniseries “Labyrinth,” based on the bestseller by Kate Mosse, with Scott Free Productions’ Ridley Scott and Liza Marshall.
