Sophan Theam''s compelling images taken of individuals living in the Tampa Bay area between the spring and fall of 2015 provide a perspective beyond the overwhelming statistics and give focus to the unique persons living with Alzheimer''s. Theam began her career as a registered nurse and now works full-time as a photographer. Born in a Thai refugee camp following her family''s escape from the war in Cambodiaa period of her family''s life that is void of family photosTheam is driven to capture photographs of people in all stages of life as a means of preserving thoughtful sensitive images and to pay tribute to the individual''s life and experiences.

''We value Ms. Theam''s portraits from aesthetic and social standpoints especially given the high rate of Alzheimer''s in the state of Florida. We are honored to be in a position where we can share such fine portraiture that gracefully and sensitively humanizes this serious widespread illness'' says Zora Carrier FMoPA''s Executive Director.
