On Friday February 5, 2016, the Supreme Court of India extended the hearing of Salman Khan's 2002 hit-and-run case to Friday February 12, 2016. The bench was responding to the fresh appeal filed in the case by the Government of Maharashtra.
But today, two days before the hearing, a major twist has taken place in the case. The family of the victim, who was killed in the road accident, has moved to the Supreme Court to challenge Salman's acquittal. The widow and son of the deceased took the step today.
The laborer was the only victim who suffered death in the incident.
The move by the victim's family has increased the importance of Friday's hearing all the more. To defend himself in the fresh appeal, Salman has roped in Congressman and lawyer Kapil Sibal.
