The 35-year-old American top seed saw off local hopeful Lee 6-3 6-2 in Kaohsiung.
Poland's Magda Linette downed Wang Yafan 7-5 7-5 and will next meet second seed Misaki Doi.
Third-seeded Yulia Putintseva progressed to the third round after rallying to dismiss qualifier Miyu Kato 6-4 5-7 6-0 but fourth seed Zarina Diyas made an early exit after losing 7-5 6-0 6-4 to Elizaveta Kulichkova.
