G. Rajesh Kumar, a Class IX student of Zilla Parishad High School at Srisailam, committed suicide by hanging himself in the SC Hostel on Tuesday.
He hailed from Nallakunta of Dornala mandal in Prakasam district.
Noticing Rajesh Kumar hanging from the ceiling in the hostel room, fellow students alerted the hostel warden.
Rajesh Kumar and his friend, who kept a girl student’s picture as wallpaper on their mobile phones, were manhandled allegedly by relatives of the girl a couple of days ago. They also complained against the boys to the Srisailam police. Parents of Rajesh Kumar’s friend were also said to have complained to the police against the girl’s relatives.
The episode seemed to have made Rajesh Kumar jittery, forcing him to resort to the extreme step. The police were yet to confirm the reason for the student’s extreme step.
