Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday ordered constituting a four-member committee under the chairmanship of state chief secretary to prepare outline for future action on the issue of reservation to jat community. The committee will submit its report by March 31.

Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday ordered constituting a four-member committee under the chairmanship of state chief secretary to prepare outline for future action on the issue of reservation to jat community. The committee will submit its report by March 31.
With this, one faction of jat leaders has announced to defer the agitation for seeking reservation under the other backward classes (OBC) category.

CM Khattar issued the directions during a meeting held with the representatives of 'Sarva Khap Jat' here after studying all the aspects related to reservation to special backward classes.
Principal secretary (welfare of scheduled castes and backward classes) T C Gupta, principal secretary (industries) Devender Singh and one representative from the office of Haryana advocate general would be the other members of the committee.
After the meeting, president of Sarva Khap Jat Sube Singh Samain announced to cancel the proposed 'rasta roko' (block road) agitation for reservation that was proposed be held on February 15.

Representatives of the Sarva Khap Jat that attended the meeting with CM included: Dharampal Chhaut, Nafe Singh Nain, advocate Somvir Singh and Ashok Madina.
The chief minister said that the state government was with every person belonging to backward classes irrespective of any community. Khattar said he would work towards maintaining harmony and so should every person. Khattar told the jat representatives that he considered 2.5 crore population of Haryana his family and had been working towards welfare of the people by rising above caste and politics and following the principle of 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' and 'Antyodaya'.
He said that the recently concluded elections to panchayati raj institutions had given a new definition to politics of Haryana. THe CM said that it was the duty of every citizen to follow the constitution of the country and the law and claimed that khaps were an old system of all castes, which worked for various social reforms.
Those present in the meeting included finance minister Captain Abhimanyu, agriculture minister O P Dhankar, welfare of scheduled castes and backward classes minister Krishan Kumar Bedi, chief secretary D S Dhesi, principal secretary to chief minister R K Khullar, additional director general of police (CID) Shatrujeet Kapoor, officer on specials duty to CM Captain Bhupinder and Bhupeshwar Dayal and other administrative secretaries of the state government.
