CHANDIGARH: Kalka Shatabdi passengers faced huge inconvenience when its engine broke down near Bhankharpur-Derabassi while coming from Delhi to Chandigarh on Tuesday. Shatabdi was late for around one and half hours and it was moved only when a new engine arrived from Kalka Workshop.
The scheduled arrival time of Kalka-Shatabdi is 11.45am at Chandigarh railway station but it reached at 1.30pm.
The passengers cried foul on the part of railway authorities, who, they alleged, handled the situation carelessly and negligently. The train started from Delhi railway station at 7.45am.
Avniash Mehta of Sector 16 said, “The train stopped suddenly near Bhankharpur without any prior information. There was no one to inform us what was the reason behind the problem. Most of the passengers stepped out from the bogies and enquired about problem. An announcement was made around ten minutes before the train resumed the journey.”
