Reporters of a prominent news channel, who went to cover the death of a child in celebratory firing, were misbehaved with, held captive, and all the pictures were deleted under instructions of a ruling party leader, he alleged.

Following the intervention of the party's top brass, the journalists were released. However, the administration has yet not taken any action against errant SP workers, Pathak added.

An eight-year-old boy was killed in celebratory firing by SP workers after the victory of the party candidate in local body polls at Kairana town in Shamli district.

Such incidents indicated how much anarchy prevailed in the state, the BJP spokesperson said and asked "Doesn't the CM have facts and information with him and if he has, then why is it being overlooked."
