Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was committed to the categorisation of SCs.
Participating in the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) meeting along with TNGO honorary president G. Devi Prasad held at Narayankhed on Monday, Mr. Rao said that the present by-election was aimed at calling an end to the 60-year political rule and to herald a new era of democracy.
“We had shown what development is in only 60 days, where as it was not visible for the past six decades. There are tands where no one comes forward to offer brides for bridegrooms due to lack of drinking water. We are addressing that issue. I have adopted the constituency and committed myself for its development. I will be available over a phone call and promise to stay here at least one day in the week in the constituency,” said Mr. Rao. Informing that Rs. 51,000 is being offered under Kalyanalakhim scheme, the Irrigation Minister said that the government was committed to extend Rs. 2,000 as pension for dappu artists. Stating that all efforts are being put in place to bring the lands that were allotted to SCs into cultivation, he wondered why the SC Categorisation Bill was not introduced in the Assembly of Andhra Pradesh by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
