City zoo to have new facilities soon

The Telangana State government on Monday decided to purchase four CNG buses, 15 battery-operated vehicles and a new toy train for Nehru Zoological Park here.

In a review meeting of the Zoos and Parks Authority of Telangana (JAPAT) held here, Minister for Forests and Environment Jogu Ramanna said the meeting was further decided to introduce online ticketing system, free Wi-Fi facility and an ATM in the zoo.

Museum of fossils

A museum of fossils would be established and exchange of animals with other zoos in the country and outside would be extended.

A team to be sent to

other States

A team of zoo officials would be sent to other States to study the management of zoos there, particularly the ones at Mysuru and Bhubaneshwar, the top two zoos in the country.

Secretary (Forests) Vikas Raj, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Srivatsava, JAPAT Convenor Chandrasekhar Reddy, Zoo Park Curator G. Ravi and other officials attended the meeting.
