The next phase of Delhi government’s pollution and traffic control measure, the odd even rule, is likely to be implemented; however, the government has decided to wait during the school exam season.

"The ideal time would be after the exams. The implementation of the scheme will then not inconvenience children or their parents," an official concerned with the matter told ET.

The government also wants to implement the scheme after the exams because then, school buses will also be available for the odd-even scheme, owing to the acute shortage of public transport buses in Delhi.

When the plan was first implemented in January, Delhi government had requested schools to provide them with buses so that people can have more buses for public transport. However, out of 1000 buses required, only 300 were provided.

This could also be a reason that the government wants to be cautious with the next phase of implementation.
