District Judge Sumalatha and Kurnool legislator S.V. Mohan Reddy flagged off a community awakening caravan to counter human trafficking near the Andhra Pradesh Special Police Battalion gate on Monday.
The judge stressed the need for creation of awareness among people, particularly women, against human trafficking and the legislations in vogue to curb them and bring the traffickers to book.
Bus yatra
Prajwala and Santhi Educational Societies launched a three-day community awakening bus yatra against human trafficking, which was assuming alarming proportions, president V. Tyagaraju and secretary Vijaya Raju of the societies said.
Awareness programmes
Activists of these societies put up posters at different parts of Kurnool to create awareness among the people.
The bus yatra proceeded to KVR Degree College where nine members of the societies created awareness among girl students on human trafficking.
The caravan will go round Nandyal and Dhone on February 9 and Yemmiganur and Adoni on February 10.
