Students seek action against PI

Nashik: Student activists of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) on Monday submitted a requisition to the police commissioner condemning the alleged assault committed by the police and demanded strict action against the inspector.
This demand comes after the incident where a minor was beaten up by a police inspector for allegedly molesting girls on February 6.
The 15-year-old was beaten up when he had gone to school to collect hall tickets and the timetable for his exams.
City president of MNVS, Sandip Bhavar said, "an innocent boy was going to school to collect hall ticket for his exams and had no intention to get into anti-social activities. Such acts need to be condemned and the CP should take action against the concerned officer".
Bhavar said that according to norms placed by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Policemen need to take prior permission before entering educational institutions and concerned administrative officer should approve the visit. "Schools in the city should also take adequate steps to ensure no miscreants lurk in and around the school premises," he added.
