Science Express chugs into Koraput

To create awareness among the masses, especially students, on how climate change can be combated through mitigation and adaptation, a state-of-the art exhibition onboard the Science Express - Climate Action Special (SECAS) reached Koraput railway station on Monday. It will remain stationed here till Wednesday.

Koraput: To create awareness among the masses, especially students, on how climate change can be combated through mitigation and adaptation, a state-of-the art exhibition onboard the Science Express - Climate Action Special (SECAS) reached Koraput railway station on Monday. It will remain stationed here till Wednesday.
Officials said it is a unique collaborative initiative of department of science and technology, ministry of environment, forest and climate change and the railway ministry.

"As climate change has emerged as the biggest threat across the globe, the SECAS intends to contribute towards increasing understanding of the science behind it, the observed and anticipated impacts and different possible response," said an official.
The exhibition spread across nine coaches of SECAS includes information, case studies and materials related to various aspect of climate change, the underlying science, impacts, adaptation activities, mitigation and policy approaches in a manner that is easy to understand as well as interesting.
The SECAS, which began its journey from Delhi on October 15 last year, will cover 64 locations across the country before reaching Gandhinagar in Gujarat on May 5.
In Odisha, the train had halted at Jharsuguda on January 29 for two days.
