MBABANE – Cyclist Mduduzi Zwane excelled in the Mpumalanga Provincial Cross Country Series at Mankele, Nelspruit, South Africa.

Zwane came second in the Under-23 men, while another local cyclist, Sifiso Mhlanga, was third and the winner was a South African. The cross country was held on Saturday and the cyclists earned points for their achievement.

There were four cyclists who represented the country in the cross country. Cycling Association of Swaziland (CAS) Secretary Menzi Tsela said the duo had travelled with Sabelo Mngomezulu, who was third in the sub-vet category, while Muzi Shabangu did not finish in the podium spot.
Tsela said the performance of the cyclists was good considering that they were not used to cross country.

“They did well and we hope that their performance will improve once they get used to cross country. In the country we are competing in a marathon when it comes to mountain bikes,” he said.
The cross country goes in laps while usually it is four to six laps while in marathon you go one way and back.
