Cops, DU students scuffle
Police and some Dhaka University students scuffled over stopping a university bus at Karwan Bazar intersection in the capital yesterday.
A student, Shafiqul Islam, said an Ansar member stopped their bus "Falguni" near the intersection, and some policemen rushed in and altercated with them as the bus tried to cross the intersection.
Later the police and Ansar men beat up three students, he added.
However, Mohammad Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police Station, told The Daily Star that the students were angry and scuffled with police because an Ansar man stopped their bus. The students also blocked the road for about half an hour in protest, and left the place after assurances of a proper investigation into the incident, he added.
