Mussoorie, February 8

Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi in a press statement released today said Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) officials had given their approval to fund two tube wells at Prem Nagar and Garhi Cantt to solve the drinking water problem here.

MLA Ganesh Joshi said the matter came up during a meeting with Uttarakhand Sub-Area GOC Major General Sami Sabbharwal.

Joshi said two tube wells would be inaugurated on February 17 by the Union Petroleum Minister at Saheed Durga Mall Park, Gari Cantt.

Joshi said the Gari Cantonment Board had also given no-objection certificate to the tube wells that led to the financial approval by the ONGC. The board had sent the estimated cost being around Rs 84.04 lakh to the ONGC.

The MLA said with the installation of the tube wells in the area, the longstanding demand of residents for adequate supply of drinking water would be met soon.

The residents have welcomed the move and thanked the MLA for making an effort for their cause.
