PHOENIX-FAR Eastern University coach Eric Gonzales wants the Accelerators to shake off complacency when they go for a share of the lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup today.

The Accelerators, who mounted an incredible comeback from 22 points down last week, target a third straight victory versus University of the Philippines-QRS/Jam Liner at 2 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“Our challenge here is to play our best,” said Gonzales. “I told them if they don’t play right, they’re being arrogant since they’re not respecting the game.”

BDO-National University and AMA University Online, both winless in two outings, shoot for their first win in the second game at 4 p.m.

A win by the Accelerators will put them on top with idle Caida Tiles and Cafe France, the champion of the last conference.

“They have a veteran team and what they have is the best [players from different] schools,” Gonzales said of the Maroons.

The Maroons—who got drubbed by Cafe France, 94-73, last week—are beefed up by Kevin Ferrer, Gelo Alolino, Raymond Aguilar and Juneric Baloria.

But the Accelerators also boast the core of UAAP champion FEU led by Mac Belo, Roger Pogoy and Mike Tolomia, who had a huge outing in their 114-102 victory over the AMA Titans.

Tolomia posted 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in that win to become only the second player in the league since Ray Parks to post a triple-double.
