Thrissur: Police are yet to nab a four-member gang, who reportedly abducted a four-year-old girl and hijacked the car in which she was travelling, by sprinkling chilli powder on the face of her father who was driving the car.
The incident happened on Saturday night at Manappady on Thrissur-Kunnamkulam highway. Textile businessman Salim, hailing from Edakkazhiyoor near Chavakkad, was on his way to Thrissur Railway station around 9.30pm along with his daughter to pick up his wife who was returning from Thiruvananthapuram.
The unidentified men, who were apparently following in another car, overtook him and waved him to stop suggesting that his car's indicator was not working. The gang escaped with his car after sprinkling chilli powder on his face when he got out to see what was happening. The abductors later abandoned the child near Laloor Cemetery at Thrissur town. She was picked up by an autorickshaw driver and handed over to West Police. The police said all efforts were being made to trace the car.
