Families wait for news of sons trapped in Siachen

While the Army continues its search for the missing soldiers trapped in snow due to an avalanche in the Siachen glacier, the family members of two soldiers ­ PN Mahesh (Mysuru) and TT Nagesh (Hassan) ­ are making all efforts to reach the officials concerned for details of their family members.

MYSURU: While the Army continues its search for the missing soldiers trapped in snow due to an avalanche in the Siachen glacier, the family members of two soldiers ­ PN Mahesh (Mysuru) and TT Nagesh (Hassan) ­ are making all efforts to reach the officials concerned for details of their family members.
The two soldiers went missing along with eight others after an avalanche in the northern Siachen glacier a few days ago.
The family members haven't received any official confirmation about the soldiers' condition.
Family members and relatives of both soldiers are contacting officials in the Army through the district administration. Some relatives are also glued to their television sets for the latest developments in the search and rescue operation.
Mahesh's brother Manjunath told TOI there is no official communication so far.“We are waiting for some information from the officials,“ he said. HD Kote tahsildar Nanjundaiah said he visited Mahesh's house on Sunday and provided details about the rescue operation going on in the Siachen glacier region.
“Subedar Nagesh, 42, who was in the 19 Madras Regiment, was attached to 54 Rashtriya Rifles and in the advanced post at the Siachen Glacier, 20,000ft above sea level. He had 8 years and 11 months of service left,“ Hassan tahsildar Manjunath said.
