PUNE: A brilliant goal from Ivory Coast striker Douhou Pierre saw debutant DSK Shivajians defeat Mumbai FC and record their maiden I-league win in Round 6 at the Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi, on Sunday.
With this lone-goal win, Shivajians took their league tally to four points from five matches while Mumbai FC, who suffered their first defeat, are on eight points from a similar number of matches.
The all-important goal came in the 20th minute. Douhou scored after trapping a cross from Surchandra Singh.
Aizawl FC fire coach
Aizawl FC have fired their Spanish coach Manuel Retamero Fraile. The decision, communicated through a press statement on Sunday, is extremely surprising given that the I-League debutants have played just six matches so far. Aizawl FC, who became the first Mizoram club to qualify for ILeague, have four points from six matches, including one win and a draw.
