Hosted by Pearle Maaney, the event was also graced by singer Vijay Yesudas, composer Gopi Sunder, actors Indrans, Lena and Mallika Sukumaran, and Seemati-owner Beena Kannan. The makers and actors of the movie were given a memento during the star-studded event, which also had cultural performances.

"Ennu Ninte Moideen", which is one of the highest grossing Malayalam movies of all time, bagged the maximum number of awards during the recently concluded 18th Asianet Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Actor (Prithviraj), Best Actress (Parvathy),  Best Character Actress (Lena) and Best Script Writer (RS Vimal). The film also won accolades during the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Utsavam show, including the Best Picture, Best Actor (Prithviraj Sukumaran), Best Actress (Parvathy), Best Supporting Female Role (Lena) and Best Female Singer (Shreya Ghoshal).

"Ennu Ninte Moideen" narrated the real-life tragic love story of BP Moideen and Kanchanamaala, set in the 1960s and 70s in Mukkam, Kerala. While Moideen belonged to a renowned Muslim family, Kanchanamala was the daughter of a Hindu Thiyya aristocratic landlord. The movie changed the career graph of both Prithviraj and Parvathy, who essayed the lead roles in the Vimal directorial.

The movie did tremendous business in India and abroad. The Prithviraj-starrer grossed $107,666 (Rs 71.79 lakh) within eight weeks of its theatrical run in the US and after the 12th weekend at the UK box office, "Ennu Ninte Moideen" is said to have collected a gross amount of Â£23,698 (Rs 23.40 lakh).

Meanwhile, Prithviraj and Vimal have again joined hands for the upcoming big budget movie "Karnan", based on the mythological character Karnan from the epic Mahabharatha. The film was launched in Dubai on 15 January and is said to be the biggest film ever made in Mollywood.
