Dibrugarh school celebrates Swamiji's birth anniversary

The National Youth Day, in commemoration of the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, was recently celebrated with a two-day programme at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Dibrugarh.

Dibrugarh: The National Youth Day, in commemoration of the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, was recently celebrated with a two-day programme at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Dibrugarh.
Principal of Manohari Devi Kanoi Girls' College, Dibrugarh, Dilip Bhuyan inaugurated the programme with Swamiji's famous quote: Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is reached.

Paying rich tributes to the great thinker and social reformer of 19th Century India, Bhuyan described him as a great visionary who contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India.
VKV principal Ravindranath D Savdeykar, in his speech, called upon students to discipline themselves and practise self-control while referring to Swamiji's contribution in inculcating a sense of pride and fearlessness in the youth so that they could face the world with confidence and self belief.
He also spoke about Swamiji's role in empowering women through education and his relentless fight against religious dogmas and superstitions. Former Asom Sahitya Sabha president and chief guest of the programme Nagen Saikia and joint general secretary of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Pravin Dabholkar also spoke on the life and ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
Students later presented a colourful cultural programme with traditional dance and music from the state and folk dance of Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra.
