NASHIK: The Jalyukta shivar work being undertaken in 229 villages of Nashik district will jump the March 2016 deadline set by the State Government as only 4,000 out of 10,000 different works scheduled have been completed.” These works will however be completed by June 2016,” Collector Deependra Singh Kushwah said.
The works worth Rs 265 crore were being carried out in 229 villages of the district to ensure that free flowing rain water through the nallahs was checked in the villages which have been facing severe water shortage for the past ten years.

The state government has assured Rs 265 crore for nearly 10,000 works that will be carried out in the villages of which 4,000 are completed another 4,000 are in progress and the rest will be picked up before March-end, the official said.
The administration has so far spent Rs 80 crore given by government earlier and received Rs 80 crore recently. The balance will be released by the government by February-end. “Even we will be able to book the expenses for the ongoing works – which could be around Rs 180 crore and the works for the rest of the amount would be picked up the month March,” Collector informed.
“We have jumped the deadline because all of us were tied kumbh mela and the works got delayed. The works since kumbh mela have picked up momentum and we are sure that all should be completed well before May. By June we will however be able to have these structures in place,” Collector said.
