Third Rhodes Park suspect back in court

Johannesburg – The bail application of the third man arrested in connection with the Rhodes Park double murder and a gang rape is expected to continue in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The 33-year-old was arrested in Sunnyside Park, Pretoria, on Friday, December 18, and charged with murder and rape.

He was the first South African national arrested in connection with the crimes. The first man was arrested in October, and a second man in November.

The three were allegedly part of a gang of around 12 who attacked two couples in the park in Kensington, Johannesburg, around 19:00 on Saturday, October 17.

The couples had gone for a walk following a church service.

They assaulted the two men, stripped them, bound their hands and feet with their clothes and threw them into the lake, where they drowned. They gang raped one of the women. The other woman was not injured.

The other two suspects, Thabo Nkala and Edmor Ndlovu, had appeared in court previously and would be back on Monday.

They had not applied for bail because they were allegedly in South Africa illegally.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
