A slide at Stevenson Park in North Abilene caught on fire Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out at approximately 1 p.m.
The blaze melted part of the slide and damaged several beams that balanced the playground equipment all together.
The Abilene Fire Department quickly put out the fire.
City maintenance crews boarded up the playground and it will be closed until further notice.
The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was injured.
