A 45-year-old businessman from Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur district died when the car in which he was travelling skidded and fell off Chennai Bypass on Sunday.
Police said Sivakumar (45) was driving the car with Haribabu, his driver, seated next to him. At Irumbuliyur, he applied the brakes to avoid hitting vehicles in front of him. He lost control of the car, which hit the barricade and fell on the service road, about 30 feet below, police said. While Haribabu escaped with minor injuries, Sivakumar was rushed to Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital in Chromepet, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
