A few graves at the CSI church cemetery in Chamundeshwari Nagar here were found vandalised by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night.

According to the community leaders, the attackers also broke and uprooted several grave markers. They allegedly entered the cemetery by jumping over the locked gate and compound.

Upon being informed about the act of vandalism, the police visited the cemetery and launched a preliminary investigation.

A senior officer said a few empty liquor bottles were found near the damaged graves. “We have gathered some clues and will soon arrest the miscreants,” a senior officer said.

Meanwhile, the community leaders strongly condemned the vandalism and demanded stern action against those responsible.

They also requested the police to intensify night patrolling in the area.
