Devotees throng Jagannatha Rath Yatra event

February 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - BELAGAVI:

Devotees from across the city and the adjoining areas took part in the two-day annual 18th Jagannatha Rath Yatra Mahotsava, organised by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), here on Sunday.

The yatra, seating Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Devi, commenced after ceremonial prayers by ISKCON priests at Dharamveer Sambhaji Chowk (Bogarves) and proceeded further through the streets of the city.

Devotees rendered bhajans and danced throughout the procession, which culminated at the ISKCON temple in Tilakwadi later in the evening.

The procession included tableaux of dioramas depicting different times of Lord Krishna. Families along the route of the procession drew rangoli designs and offered water and juice to the participants.
