Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati will consecrate the newly constructed Sri Vijaya Rajarajeswari temple at Pedapulipaka near here on February 25 at 7.54 a.m.
The pre-consecration rituals, including ‘yaga saala pujas’ will begin on February 21 with invocations to Lord Ganesh (Vigneswara puja). The Kanchi seer will perform ‘Maha Kumbhabhishekam’ and ‘Kalasa Prathistha’ in line with with the Sivagama tradition, according to Sri Vijayarajarajeswari Sri Vidyapeetham pontiff Vasudevanandagiri.
Speaking to The Hindu , the Vidyapeetham pontiff said the ‘Praakara Mandapam’ (outer boundary wall of the temple) has images of deities sculpted on it.
A total of 52 images, with names starting with ‘Ajaamukhi’ (letter a), ‘Aadarvani Devi’ (aa) and ending with ‘Sri Mayamalini’ (which represents the letter ‘ksha’ in Telugu alphabet), have been sculpted on the wall, he added.
In addition, a ‘Sri Chakram’ has been installed at a depth of 140 ft in front of the Vijaya Rajarajeswari Devi temple.
The main temple, which has 16 pillars representing ‘Shodasi Mantra’, has ‘Upalayas’ (sub temples) of Lakshmi and Saraswati around it in accordance with Sastra.
More than 500 people can do ‘Aksharabhyasam’ in front of the Saraswati temple at a time. There are also facilities for performing other pujas in front of the Lakshmi temple, he said.
